Project Accountant needed for a Nashville Real Estate Development Company

C. B. Ragland Company is seeking an experienced Construction Project Accountant to assist with the project management of multiple construction projects in the Nashville area. The job will be a permanent position continuous upon the project completion.  As a Project Accountant, you will work closely with the project manager(s), owners, and support staff to manage and maintain project budgets, track actual construction costs, and prepare accurate, timely reports. Candidates need to have construction/job costing accounting software experience.

The Construction Project Accountant will be responsible for the following: 

  • Provide timely financial and project performance data.
  • AIA contract billing and monthly pay applications.
  • Coordination of bank construction draws and loan compliance.
  • Maintain owner and partnership equity investment schedules.  
  • Produce reports on project variances of actuals vs. budgets and updating forecasts.
  • Work closely with project manager(s) and support staff on projects.
  • Create and manage projects in the job costing module.
  • Know how to set up projects correctly in the system using phases, categories and expenses.
  • Attend weekly construction meetings as needed.
  • Review partial and final leinNashvi waivers from contractor/subcontractor submittals.
  • Analyze and approve project change orders.
  • Understand the document management process.
  • Enter contracts and cost breakdowns for projects.
  • Responsible for job costing activities for projects.

Candidate must possess the following: 

  • Minimum of five years of Accounting experience in the construction industry with an understanding of construction contracts, job costing, and terminology.  
  • Timberline/Sage Construction experience required.
  • An accounting degree is required.
  • Strong organizational skills with an attention to detail.
  • Above average problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Must be self-motivated - this is a busy position that requires lots of communication with vendors, contractors, and other departments.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Works well under tight deadlines while still maintaining a high level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and job costing.
