Riverside Capital/The Michaels Organization presently has a full time opportunity available for a Tax Credit Closing Manager. This position is located in our home office in Marlton, NJ 08053.
The Tax Credit Closing Manager will support Riverside’s Acquisitions, Investor Relations, Asset Management, Finance, and Operations by managing corporate and deal process arrangements and documents. The primary role of this position is to coordinate legal, real estate, and project due diligence requirements for complex qualifying Low Income Housing Tax Credit properties. The position will be responsible for reviewing, organizing and maintaining certificates, resolutions, contracts and various due diligence documents as well as other legal documents, effectively communicating with internal team members, external legal counsel, low income housing developers, insurance consultants, title companies, surveyors, lenders, and third-party investors.
Position duties & Responsibilities:
Develop policies and procedures for document management
Build and maintain legal database using document management software
Part of closing team on debt and equity commercial real estate and affordable housing transactions
Play an integral role on the closing team with a primary responsibility for coordinating receipt and review of due diligence materials of transaction and entity documents among internal and external clients and legal counsel
Manage due diligence checklists, transaction process and closings
Review title, survey, and title commitments and respond to title and survey comments from counterparties to ensure conformance with internal requirements
Analyze, and provide recommendations on insurance, zoning, organizational documents, and other project due diligence to ensure conformance with internal requirements
Perform research relating to entities, creating and maintaining entities legal status
Facilitate resolution of any problems that arise during the closing
Develop positive customer relationships to enhance repeat business.
Prepare legal signature page packets and coordinate and procure signatures of various deal participants
Prepare legal closing binder for investors.
Insure all relevant documentation has been secured for the closing of the transactions including any post-closing items to satisfy audit and regulatory requirements.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Required Experience:
Minimum 4 years paralegal experience
Required Education/Training:
Undergraduate degree or equivalent paralegal experience
Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of partnerships, limited liability companies, tax credit or partnership syndication, a plus
Ability to prioritize in dynamic conditions, and meet challenging deadlines, multi-task
Must have excellent organizational, verbal and written skills, and be able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Excellent, organizational, communication, analytical and critically thinking skills.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Working Conditions:
Flexibility for minimal travel and to work extra hours, as needed.
