POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE The Manager of Environmental, Social and Governance will support efforts related to Essex s commitment to ESG and improve Essex s ESG ratings. The Manager of ESG will work with internal departments, vendors, and industry contacts to meet the Company s ESG reporting goals. Responsibilities include understanding the Company s ESG objectives, measuring and reporting internally and externally, and gathering documentation of policies and procedures. The successful candidate is a critical thinker with strong business acumen and understands ESG. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES Develop an in-depth understanding of Company s programs relating to ESG and comparison to its peers. Support ESG Committee in the development and completion of Essex s ESG goals. Assist in the development and publication of annual Corporate Social Responsibility Report (CSR) and collaborate across functions and businesses to develop content, and coordinate with our outside design firm. Lead the completion of other sustainability reports including GRESB and other reports. Collect, manage, maintain, and consolidate sustainability data with environmental impacts including energy, water, waste, and carbon footprint. Review and assist in executing projects that will increase the Company s sustainability efforts. Develop tools, databases, and other tracking mechanisms to track Essex s sustainability and social programs. Identify, coordinate, and respond to any third-party surveys related to ESG and other reporting. Gather and manage materials related to CSR including Code of Conduct, Business Ethics, and other Governance documents. Stay up to date on industry standards and trends relating to ESG. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor s or Master s in Communications, Business, Marketing, Sustainability, or a related field Three to five years of ESG-related experience or LEED Accredited Professional preferred. Ability to interpret and analyze sustainability metrics such as energy calculations, cost-benefit analysis, and greenhouse gas reporting. Strong analytical, organizational, time management, and attention to detail and accuracy.
