Waterfront Toronto is the public advocate and steward of waterfront revitalization. Created by the Governments of Canada and Ontario and the City of Toronto, Waterfront Toronto is mandated to deliver a revitalized waterfront. Formally established in 2001, Waterfront Toronto has a 25-year mandate to transform 800 hectares (2,000 acres) of brownfield lands on the waterfront into beautiful, sustainable mixed-use communities and dynamic public spaces. Waterfront Toronto’s mandate represents one of the largest infrastructure projects in North America and one of the largest waterfront redevelopment initiatives ever undertaken in the world. Waterfront Toronto brings together the most innovative approaches to sustainable development, excellence in urban design, real estate development, and advanced technology infrastructure. It is in this exciting and dynamic context that Waterfront Toronto seeks its new President and CEO.
The President and CEO of Waterfront Toronto will provide executive leadership and strategic direction to ensure that the Waterfront Toronto is well positioned to meet its current and future challenges. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President and CEO will provide support to and oversight of the numerous Waterfront Toronto projects and programs, to ensure that they are in accordance with the organization’s strategic plan, mission and mandate. The President and CEO will build strong relationships with Waterfront Toronto’s diverse stakeholder groups, including all levels of government, the public and staff.
As the ideal candidate, you are an accomplished leader with experience designing and implementing innovative projects in complex, multi stakeholder environments. You are familiar with the development sector of real estate planning, infrastructure development, financing or public-private partnerships. You possess a high degree of political acuity and a track record of developing effective relationships with various levels of government. You are comfortable being the face of a high-profile organization, an excellent communicator to diverse groups and exemplify honesty, truthfulness, transparency and integrity. You are a collaborative team player who is passionate about creating whole, inclusive and diverse urban communities that will help Toronto compete with other top tier global cities for investment, jobs and people.
