New York City Metro Area established residential builder/developer has an exciting paid internship opportunity for a Compliance Intern.  Candidate will assist in carrying out essential duties pertaining to hiring of minority, women, and local contractors as well as hiring local workers for our construction jobsites. L+M awarded more than 160 contracts totaling more than $6M in 2018 as well as created new jobs for over 350 construction workers in NYC and NJ since 2014.

The position is located in our Larchmont, NY office and will be an integral addition to our experienced, five-person compliance team.

During the ten-week program, the intern will learn about compliance as well as have the opportunity to tour multiple jobsites, participate in a lunch meeting with company leaders to learn about the core capabilities and services of a vertically integrated real estate company, network with other interns, and make a presentation on lessons learned to senior management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend outreach events to meet new subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants and assist with the related follow-up. Assist compliance staff in organizing and host outreach events.
  • Utilize SalesForce CRM software to maintain and input information, create reports, and evaluate data to inform of key compliance activities such as outreach and reporting to City and State agencies.
  • Assist with the development of training guides and standard operating procedures (SOP) for use by compliance staff as well as construction and development teams.
  • Research technical schools in New York City and develop a plan for increasing the pool of available workers for the construction trades.  Attend tours of schools, develop collateral material for L+M, and provide recommendations to the compliance team.
  • Research existing mentoring programs for minority and women owned businesses to provide feedback to improve L+M’s existing mentoring program.
  • Assist with evaluating the process of awarding and onboarding minority and women owned contractors and provide feedback to improve L+M’s current onboarding process. Assist compliance staff in working with construction teams to forecast and maintain plans pertaining to contracting and workforce plans.
  • Assist with the collection of reporting to City and State agencies.

Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce CRM is preferred.

 

 Minimum Education:

  • Pursuing undergraduate college degree.
