Century | Urban is seeking a proactive, highly motivated and skilled individual to support the property accounting and property management functions at a San Francisco-based real estate investment and advisory firm. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a successful boutique real estate advisory firm and work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while gaining valuable skills in real estate accounting, operations and property management.  The position may afford the ability to grow into an asset management and/or financial analysis role. This is a full-time job with an immediate start date. The selected candidate will have responsibility for performing accounting and property management duties for commercial properties located in San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area.

 

General Bookkeeping & Accounting Duties

  • Ensuring that all accounts payable and accounts receivable are completed in an accurate and timely manner, including the preparation of invoices, maintaining client records and collection/application of customer payments.
  • Ensure that all rent-related monies are collected in a timely manner, properly identified, recorded, and deposited in the property bank accounts.
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly financial reporting.
  • Record monthly principal, escrow and interest payments based on loan statements.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Responsible for the calculation of monthly and quarterly distributions to owners and investors.
  • Prepare monthly property management fee calculations.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of tenant data in the accounting system.
  • Own the accounts payable process, including the recording, coding and processing of various vendor and subcontractor invoices.

 

Assistant Property Manager Duties

  • Facilitate the successful operation of the building(s) by completing property inspections, responding to tenant service requests and ensuring the property is kept up to code.
  • Coordinate assigned contract bidding, vendor selection and contract negotiation and maintain vendor relationships.
  • Complete accounting and finance tasks including preparation of the annual budgets, preparing monthly accounting reports, and monitoring and coordinating the accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.
  • Prepare monthly draws for lenders and investors.
  • Manage small construction and special projects.
  • Provide excellent customer service to both external and internal customers.
  • Provide core administrative support and other ad hoc tasks on a daily basis, including office manager duties such as ordering and organizing supplies, filing, etc.
  • Assist with special projects, as needed.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience with bookkeeping and able to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
  • 2-3 years of professional work experience.
  • Yardi is preferred, but not required.
  • CPA license preferred, but not required.
  • General understanding of real estate concepts and analysis including CAM reconciliations.

 

This position reports directly to the Head of Asset Management and will have access and exposure to clients as well as the principals at Century | Urban.   We offer a competitive package commensurate with experience.
