EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS

 

We are seeking an Executive Vice President of Operations that will lead and manage the majority of the Company’s operational functions for our 80-person (and growing), national, healthcare real estate development and investment company.  This individual will report to our President and ensure that the operational teams effectively and proactively enable the firm to pursue and meet its aggressive growth plans and strategic objectives, while mitigating risk and maximizing operational efficiencies across multiple business lines.

This role includes ensuring the Company has adequate staffing, core competencies, systems, policies, procedures and practices in place to execute the Company’s goals and ramp up its development volumes, assets under management, new business lines and opportunities, and overall profitability.

Key to this role is the ability to provide analytical support to the leadership team by analyzing operational and financial performance, monitoring variances, identifying trends, performing statistical analyses, creating and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams to facilitate root cause analysis and recommend necessary actions to optimize performance. You will engage in extensive cross-departmental collaboration with design & construction, property and asset management, finance, research, legal, business development and other Company disciplines. The ability to navigate interpersonal relationships is critical in this position.

 

Position Responsibilities

  • This position is responsible for creating and overseeing the dashboard view of project implementation and company operations.  You will ensure work flow is being executed timely and consistently, while proactively identifying potential risks, delays and inefficiencies before they occur. There will be a focus on continual improvement and betterment within all disciplines of the Company
  • Create and monitor systems to track progress in all work streams at various stages of each project lifespan and ensure consistent use and adherence to Company efficiency and risk mitigation policies  
  • Continually probe and challenge those coordinating design and construction and key project participants to understand and explore potential obstacles such as seller, municipality and third-party requirements and obligations, permit and entitlement timing and qualifications, environmental and title issues, etc. that can lead to potential project risks, cost increases and delays; track predevelopment dollars, approved spending limits and understand monetary exposures
  • Direct reporting responsibility with department heads of Asset Management, IT, HR, Risk Management, and Construction & Design
  • Work with Managing Partners, development group leader and managers to ensure development projects are on-budget, on-time, and meeting or exceeding revenue expectations
  •  Understand the business objectives of the Company; help facilitate growth in existing and new product lines; assist in setting portfolio, department and Company KPI’s and other performance metrics.
  • Gather data, prepare and review analytics, provide decision-support presentations, business intelligence reporting, and trend analyses; identify bottlenecks, recognize opportunities for process improvement, and use operational analytics to impact operational excellence
  • Responsible for a variety of projects, internal data audits, staffing pattern & budget reviews, as well as developing and presenting detailed summaries and analysis to senior management, as needed.  You will also support the executive leadership team by providing recommendations, based on the data and results of these projects, with which to execute new and innovative business initiatives which support key financial performance indicators, pricing models, and cash flow streams.
  • Provide project management and administrative oversight as necessary to achieve the strategic objectives of operations, providing leadership to the teams and work with them to set and manage milestones and timelines
  • Analyze, design, document, and implement internal reporting systems, operating policies and procedures for the organization
  • Contribute to the preparation of short- and long-range plans and budgets based on broad corporate goals and growth objectives
  • Develop metrics and work processes to hold the team accountable and to track performance, to include the adoption and the implementation of best-practice sharing, setting benchmarks independent of and beyond industry standards and driving disciplined, financially based decision making

 

Position Requirements

 

  • BS/BA degree (MBA preferred)
  • Proven experience as COO, EVP/SVP/VP of Operations or similar senior or executive-level position(s), with demonstrated ability to increase operational performance, manage risks, create synergies across department and business lines, and scale a company to meet rapid growth opportunities
  • Experience overseeing processes for design & construction for a real estate development company and asset/property management and leasing
  • Experience with healthcare real estate a significant plus, but not required
  • Strong business acumen, with exceptional analytical skills
  • Sound judgment and flexibility to prioritize and handle multiple assignments at any given time while autonomously maintaining commitments to promises and deadlines
  • Proven leader and effective persuasive communicator who shares key information with all stakeholders related to initiatives, management decisions and rationale, and overall performance of the organization, while possessing strong relationship-building skills with all levels of employees and management  
  • Effective, creative and visionary problem solver who knows how to operationally and culturally align an organization 
  • Utilize Lean, Six Sigma and other performance improvement tools to eliminate waste, reduce variation, and align the culture of the organization to achieve sustainable improvements across key performance areas
  • Low-ego, hands-on, action-oriented and entrepreneurial emotionally intelligent individual who can wear many hats in a fast-paced environment and consistently align other key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience and excellence in coaching, collaborating, negotiating, influencing, and leading groups and programs
