Description
Vacancies are in the Planning and Economic Development Division of the Development Services Department. Under general direction, manages, coordinates and directs the implementation of project activities and collaborates on all aspects of project activities and issues in assigned area of responsibility. Projects may include some of the following but are not limited to: negotiation and administration of lease and license agreements, sale and acquisition of city-owned property, tax abatements, brownfield remediation, demolition and property maintenance, tenant recruitment and retention, economic performance assessment, near and long-term economic development strategy such as redevelopment plans, streetscape design and implementation. The position also requires effective partnership with a broad and diverse set of stakeholders and partners, both internal and external, including but not limited to city council members, business owners and associations, neighborhood and civic groups, consultants, state and federal agencies, private developers and investors, and commercial real estate brokers. The incumbent will need to make frequent presentations before stakeholders and take meetings with partners, and will contribute to staffing the Hartford Redevelopment Agency. Prepares loan and grant applications for submission to financial institutions and other funding sources. Performs related work as required. This is a union position. The hours of work are 40 per week and the above salary includes 5% in lieu of overtime.
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in planning, public administration, business administration, economics or a closely related field. Five (5) years of responsible work experience in housing, economic development, planning or commercial and industrial real estate, including experience in a lead or supervisory capacity. Master's degree in business administration, economics, economic development, project management or closely related field may be substituted for one (1) year of professional experience
