Assistant General Manager - Visitor and Field Services

Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, headquartered in Los Altos, California, is currently seeking an innovative, team-oriented leader to serve in the positions of Assistant General Manager – Visitor and Field Services. Appointed by the District’s General Manager, Ana Maria Ruiz, the Assistant General Manager is an integral part of the executive management team and may act as GM in her absence. While supporting the GM, the AGM – Visitor and Field Services will work collaboratively with the AGM – Planning and Project Delivery along with the Chief Financial Officer/Administrative Services Director to guide the development of and oversee the implementation of the annual work plans and budgets. The AGM overseeing the Visitor and Field Services Delivery business line will possess strong technical skills and knowledge in the following areas: managing field projects and public programs; project management; law enforcement and public safety; interpretive education; natural resource management; field maintenance practices; collective bargaining; project, program, and operational budgeting; policy development; securing grants; and contracting and bidding processes. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and six years of management experience with at least four years of increasingly responsible experience in one or more of the following areas: natural resource protection, operations, planning, public works, land management, land acquisition/preservation, maintenance of parks, open space, and/or public recreation facilities, or other related areas. The annual salary range for the AGM position is $156,910 to $195,955. In addition, an exceptional benefits package that includes CalPERS retirement is provided.
