NELSON is seeking a National Practice Leader, within our Industrial Practice. We are not limiting our search to a specific city, we are open to exploring all qualified candidates, regardless of location.

The Industrial Practice Leader is accountable for NELSON’s company-wide strategy for growing and enhancing the Industrial sector of our business. This includes end-to-end market growth strategies and operational practices that ensure high quality of work advancing existing client relationships while accommodating the addition of new opportunities with the support of other Local/Regional Practice leaders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Champion for the Practice, internally and externally.
  • Show ambition, with a strong desire to grow the practice in terms of client relationships, revenue and operating profit.
  • Serve as an articulate spokesperson to represent NELSON in the local, regional and national marketplace.
  • Attend industry conferences with a focus on speaking opportunities and the development of intellectual capital (“white papers”) that address trends and position NELSON as an industry thought leader.
  • Opportunity analysis and identification (market analysis/ assessment of potential clients),
  • Identify, assess and recommend strategies to align the Practice with local, regional, and national growth strategies.
  • Identify NELSON’s value proposition by identifying market differentiator(s).
  • Create and perform ongoing competitor analysis that demonstrates key strengths and weaknesses of industry-leading firms servicing this sector.
  • Develop pricing strategies that weigh and balance revenue targets, service capabilities and operational costs assuring profitability.
  • Participate in the pursuit of new Industrial work being pursued by NELSON partners and leaders.
  • Develop NELSON’s service delivery model for the Practice and set routines with the Regions and other Practice Leaders that allow for an ongoing evaluation of the delivery model in regards to growth, profitability, technical quality, and risk management.
  • Develop methods for enhancing and measuring market penetration within different Practice and Service areas. From this ongoing work and analysis, develop and maintain 1, 3, and 5-year plans for client targets and market positioning.
  • Develop and participate in succession planning, including the transition of important client relationships and identification/training of the National Practice leader.

Education / Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design and at least six years’ experience in Interior Design or Architecture, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
