Cedar Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE: CDR) is a fully-integrated real estate investment trust which focuses on the ownership, operation and redevelopment of grocery-anchored shopping centers in high-density urban markets from Washington, D.C. to Boston. The Company’s portfolio is comprised of 53 properties with approximately 7.6 million square feet of gross leasable area.
Cedar is seeking a Director, Financial Reporting who will report to the Chief Accounting Officer and will be responsible primarily for the preparation of all SEC filings, consolidation, and quarterly close processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation of SEC filings including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, DEF-14A and Registration Statements (as needed)
- Preparation of internal management reporting package analyzing KPIs, financial ratios and trends to help guide strategic decision making
- Coordinate the preparation of documents with executive management, investor relations, legal counsel and the Audit Committee to assure complete and accurate reporting on a timely basis
- Ensure compliance with SEC regulations and GAAP accounting, including XBRL reporting
- Remain current on new pronouncements and technical accounting issues. Analyze, research and conclude on new and proposed accounting, reporting and disclosure standards issued by the SEC and FASB, and prepare memorandums summarizing the impact on the Company and corporate accounting policy
- Create, implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures to promote consistency in the accounting treatment throughout the Company
- Prepare and review journal entries and reconciliations for key complex accounting areas including debt, equity and stock-based compensation
- Provide external auditors with supporting documentation and various ad hoc requests
- Directly interact with members of senior management, including finance, acquisitions, legal, leasing, and asset management departments
- Interact with lenders and oversee preparation of quarterly debt covenant compliance package for consolidated entities
Job Qualifications:
- 5+ years of accounting experience
- U.S. GAAP technical accounting expertise, SEC reporting and consolidation experience
- Bachelor’s degree required, CPA preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, demonstrated integrity and professionalism
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Excel
- Experience with MRI and ActiveDisclosure a plus
