Zurich Alternative Asset Management (ZAAM) is currently hiring an Associate Director, Real Estate Acquisitions and this person will work in our New York City office.

 

ZAAM's real estate strategy is consistent with Zurich’s global strategy in the core and core-plus focused strategies for real estate investment. Totaling over 200 properties in 30 states, our U.S. real estate portfolio aggregates over 20 million square feet of commercial real estate space. As owners of attractive non-core positions in addition to targeted core positions, we are active sellers and buyers of assets, and our team of real estate professionals is also active in executing workout strategies within our existing portfolio.

We seek to achieve superior risk-adjusted returns in executing a core and core-plus, direct real estate investment strategy in small to mid-sized opportunities in targeted markets and sub-markets including Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Chicago, Minneapolis, San Francisco, San Jose, Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, San Diego, Denver, Houston, Miami, Salt Lake City, Charlotte, Raleigh-Durham and Nashville.

 

Job Summary:

 

  • The Associate Director will work on real estate acquisitions for investor clients, covering and analyzing a geographic market, and reviewing properties
  • He/She will analyze the risk-adjusted returns of particular real estate properties
  • He/She will conduct market and property tours with clients, make investment selections for presentment to the Head of US RE, and assist in closing deals
  • He/She will network, travel and collaborate with external constituencies – including real estate brokers and agents - to source investment properties for consideration.

 

Basic Qualifications: 

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 7 or more years of experience in the real estate area OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 9 or more years of experience in the Real Estate area AND
  • 7 or more years of experience as asset manager or analyst, in the financial services industry
  • 5 or more years of experience in investment management, finance and/or banking

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

 

  • CFA
  • CPA
  • Master’s degree in economics, Finance, Business Administration
  • Investments knowledge
  • Experience in Alternative investments and Commercial Real Estate
  • Strong verbal and writer communication skills in English
  • Any proficiency or fluency in European languages is a plus
