Overview:

The President will be a responsible to lead and build the Capital Markets Business Group ( CMBG ) with a primary focus on business development and revenue generation, as well as P&L responsibilities. The candidate should have a successful track record of transacting and underwriting new mortgage brokerage business. The President will lead, support, and assist with borrower lead generation, client management, lender relationships, and loan placements throughout the company.

The CMBG s primary activities and focus will be on the following 1.) Mortgage Banking: senior debt, mezzanine debt, and Bridge loans. 2.) third party capital: equity, preferred equity, and rescue capital 3.) recapitalizations, loan restructure/structured finance, discounted payoff negotiations/ note sales and 4. ) lending

Specifically, the President shall implement operational procedures as well as develop strategies to build and expand the competence and capabilities of the CMBG. The creation and build out of the CMBG is a central strategy for Faris Lee Investments as it grows its national retail investment advisory platform. CMBG will focus its business strategies on the institutional and private investor/developer markets, targeting properties with a value range in excess of $2 million.

Compensation is inclusive of commission and profit sharing

This role is a strategic leadership role within the organization and is an integral part of the company s succession planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, qualify, underwrite, pursue, negotiate, seek internal approvals, and perform due diligence and close real estate loan and investment transactions.
  • Arrange debt and equity for all commercial real estate property types nationwide, focusing on the entire capital structure specific to each real estate transaction
  • Ability and experience to structure and place innovative transactions that satisfy the needs of both borrowers and lenders.
  • Possess, develop and cultivate strong relationships with commercial real estate debt and equity providers.
  • Contact and pursue real estate developers and owners for capital needs and off-market transactions.
  • Underwriting, deal modeling, deal structuring, due diligence, financing, negotiation of deal terms.
  • Responsible for broad knowledge of important local information relating to markets covered, real estate firms, brokers and regional economic trends.
  • Proficient in the valuation metrics of office, industrial, retail, and multi-family asset classes. Assist the team with qualifying and winning opportunities.
  • Fulfill a role as a player / coach with ability to directly complete deals while cultivating the capabilities of the larger business group.
  • Coordinate due diligence efforts for each transaction as needed.
  • Maintain and track broker submissions. Participate in weekly Pipeline calls.
  • Develop and pursue leads and opportunities. Contact and pursue real estate developers and owners for development capital needs and off-market transactions.

Requirements:

  • Successful track record and experience within CRE finance and mortgage brokerage.
  • Solid sales skills with proper preparation disciplines. Must possess solid communication skills including the ability to present an accurate and compelling overview and benefits.
  • Successful business relationships with clients/executives across multiple industry segment.
  • Familiarity on support of sales lease back.
  • Solid proficiency in the analysis, identification, and closing of real estate transactions, to include real estate acquisitions, development ventures and debt placement of commercial real estate properties
  • High level business acumen including the business environment, market forces, the client's retail real estate portfolio, markets, customers and competitors.
  • Capacity to drive the business development strategy with an opportunity plan that includes specific objectives, appropriate strategies, and detailed tactics.
  • Ability to project and anticipate the strategies employed by each competitor and the skill to craft successful, proactive strategies for winning the business.

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, or related finance field. Higher degrees of MBA or CFA are a plus.
  • 15+ years of relevant work experience with 5+ yrs. of recent experience working in a senior level investment leadership position for a major real estate brokerage firm involved in transactions.
  • Strong work ethic with ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
  • Proven leadership/project management skills including developing and mentoring talent.
  • Ideal candidates will have established relationships and experience in the respective regional area.
  • Advanced understanding and track record in real estate capital markets.
  • Demonstrated track record of displaying sound investment judgment.
  • Experience or knowledge in originating individual and portfolio transactions directly and through joint venture partners.
  • Understanding of time value of money skills, leasing, and asset management; proficient in Argus.
  • Strong quantitative skills and demonstrated analytical ability including underwriting and financial modeling.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Series 7, 63, 79 licenses are preferred.
