The Opportunity:
Maverick Real Estate Partners LLC (“Maverick”) is seeking a Portfolio Management Associate. This high-profile role is at the nexus of the Asset Management, Finance, and Investments teams. The Portfolio Management Associate will report to the Director of Finance, Operations, and Compliance (“FOC”), and will regularly interact with the General Counsel, Director of Investments, and the Co-Founders. While all new hires participate in Maverick’s intensive training program, this role will begin as a 3-month rotational program through the Investments, Asset Management and Finance teams.
Founded in 2010, Maverick is a registered investment advisor with over $350 million in assets under management and invests through its discretionary private equity fund vehicles. Maverick acquires distressed commercial mortgages secured by real estate in New York City. Maverick's mission is to provide its 11 team members with the satisfaction of building a world class alternative investment manager in a dynamic and collaborative work environment with significant growth opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Incorporate investment models developed by the Investments Team into the portfolio management system in order to analyze the effect on fund level returns
- Periodically value underlying real estate collateral to improve portfolio management inputs and develop fair values for quarterly reporting
- Perform scenario analyses on debt investments and recommend optimal resolution strategies
- Model scenarios of owned real estate portfolio, implementing repositioning and/or disposition strategies
- Directly improve portfolio returns by decreasing investment duration and maximizing investment recovery
Prior Experience:
- 3-5 years of real estate or distressed credit experience
- Demonstrated academic excellence
- Quantitative and analytical background
