Change Manager Position Description

The Change Manager is responsible for the people side of Government Agency change management commercial real estate projects, reorganizations, organizational transformations, or similar changes requiring adoption of & transition to new communications processes, tools, workspaces, and/or culture. The Change Manager should possess experience in overseeing organizational change management in a variety of complex Government Agency environments and function as the lead day-to-day project manager for change initiatives. This person must have experience working on commercial real estate projects.

 Client-Facing Responsibilities:

  • Understand the commercial real estate project lifecycle
  • Create the master project strategy, plan & schedule
  • Create a change management timeline, monitor & track progress against the timeline
  • Support change management at the organizational level by providing advisory consulting to senior management
  • Conduct change readiness assessments
  • Conduct stakeholder analysis
  • Identify, analyze, & define risk mitigation management plans and methods for tracking outcomes
  • Identify & manage anticipated resistance
  • Gather feedback & measure change adoption
  • Implement reinforcement processes supporting changes
  • Create, maintain, & oversee client deliverables for change management
  • Create, manage, & implement the communications plan
  • Prepare & deliver key messages
  • Manage & lead the client change team
  • Support, engage & coach the impacted team members & change agents
  • Develop organizational design changes & definition of roles & responsibilities
  • Develop & coordinate alignment with other initiatives within the organization
  • Evaluate progress & enable organization readiness
  • Track, analyze & report issues
  • Define metrics to measure success

Internal Responsibilities

  • Interact with Director of Change Management keeping them informed on project status & progress
  • Educate colleagues on change management project lessons learned
  • Partner with Project Managers & Relocation Managers to understand their existing clients' change needs & provide ideas to cross-sell services with existing clients
  • Sustain organization-wide change management standards & best practices

The ideal candidate for this position possesses these technical and soft skills:

Technical Skills:

  • Past experience working on commercial real estate projects (relocations, new developments, build-to-suits, in-place renovations, etc.)
  • Government Agency experience contributing to or leading change management projects.
  • Prosci fluent in change management practices (desired)
  • 5-8 years' experience with change implementation (leading and doing the "boots on the ground" work to accelerate adoption of large-scale organizational/business change
  • Solid understanding of how people experience change & the change process
  • Familiarity with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle
  • Knowledge of & experience applying change management principles, methodologies, & tools
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written & verbal
  • Ability to establish & maintain strong relationships, influence others, & move toward a common vision or goal
  • Experience communicating effectively & influencing various levels of an organization, including high level executives, deputy directors, team leaders & individual contributors
  • Excellent active listening skills
  • Ability to synthesize information & clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences
  • Highly organized with a natural inclination for planning strategy & tactics
  • Problem solving & root cause identification skills
  • Acute business acumen and understanding of organizational issues & challenges
