Senior Lead Accountant (tax matters & holding entities)

As the Sr. Lead Accountant, you will provide critical knowledge and support for all tax matters and holding entities within McWhinney. You will play an important role within the company and the Accounting team as the primary point of contact for tax matters, as well as the preparation of various financial statements for the holding entities at McWhinney.

Key Responsibilities:

• Primary point of contact for tax matters including:
  • Coordinates with third party CPA firm regarding tax preparation
  • Review of tax returns prepared by third party firm
  • Semiannual tax estimates
  • Historic tax credit coordination
• Prepares the financial statements of the various corporate holding entities, including statements of cash flows
  • Month end and quarter end closes
  • Equity pick-ups from affiliated entities
  • Equity distributions and capital calls
  • Accurate and timely GAAP financial statements
  • Prepares complex forecast and budget of future cash flows
  • Analysis of results including variances to budget and forecast

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or relevant field
• A minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar role
• Good understanding of U.S. tax structure
• Strong GAAP knowledge
• Real estate industry experience desired
• Demonstrated Yardi systems (Voyager and modules) experience desired
• Expert Microsoft Excel abilities desired
• Self-starter and strong analytical skills with ability to manage multiple tasks
• Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization including discerning the appropriate level of detail based on roles and personalities.
