Senior Associate - Infrastructure Investments Chicago, Illinois

Ullico Infrastructure Fund (“UIF” or “the Fund”) is an operational infrastructure-focused private equity investment fund managed by Ullico Investment Advisors, Inc.  The Fund makes long-term investments in infrastructure businesses that provide essential services to communities, governments, and businesses in the United States and Canada.   The Fund invests across the full spectrum of core infrastructure assets including transportation, power generation, utilities, and social infrastructure. 

We are seeking a Senior Associate to join the Ullico Infrastructure Fund (UIF) investment team. UIF has investments in various types of infrastructure including but not limited to water, transmission, power generation, renewable energy, and transportation infrastructure. The position will support UIF’s acquisition team in adding new investments that meet the Fund’s strategy and investment parameters, maintaining and building relationships with infrastructure equity sponsors and intermediaries, as well as supporting portfolio and asset management functions.

As a member of a small investment team, responsibilities will include the following:

• Involvement with the investment process from origination to closing starting from screening, diligence, underwriting, structuring, and definitive documentation;
• Reviewing complicated financial models, developing investment thesis and supporting analysis;
• Conducting/managing  business, financial, and legal due diligence;
• Preparing investment memoranda and presentations;
• Managing, training, and mentoring analysts and interns including financial modeling, presentations, and other written materials;
• Leading adoption of best practices for financial modeling and valuation analysis, standardizing and codifying relevant processes;  
• Industry research, monitoring trends whether disruptive or opportunistic within the various sub-sectors in infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of full time work experience including with an institutional investor, investment bank, Corporate M&A, PPP consultant, project finance bank, asset manager, or fund manager;
• Demonstrated competency in financial modeling, due diligence, valuations, deal structuring, and transaction process;
• Sociable and team oriented;
• Willingness to work in an entrepreneurial environment;
• Experienced in people management;
• Strong oral and written communication skills;
• Strong financial modeling skills, knowledge of accounting fundamentals;
• Strong attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and desire for self-development;
• Strong client orientation both internal and external;
• Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with sponsors, investment banks, consultants, and vendors;
• Strong academic record with preference for MBA graduates. 
• Experience with a formal training program through a bank, PE firm, or consulting firm a plus
