SUMMARY

This is an opportunity to join an active company and play a hands on role in its continued growth. The Development Associate will focus on supporting a small team in driving a new boutique hotel development project from schematics to completion, while co-managing a multifamily, creative office, and retail portfolio. The position will be multi-faceted including all aspects of Hudson’s development, asset and property management, pursuit of new business, and operations.

 

ABOUT HUDSON GROUP

Hudson Group is a boutique, privately owned real estate development firm based in Boston. The family company is deeply invested in the Leather District and Chinatown neighborhoods, having developed new construction and adaptive reuse projects in the area including offices, retail, and 300 units of housing.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Work directly with and support the Partner / Director of Development on:

  •  Development
    • Participate in design, permitting, joint venture negotiations, construction, and project management of a new hotel project in downtown Boston
    • Coordinate consultant team (designers, attorneys, engineers, etc.)
    • Manage relationships with vendors, lenders, and city agencies
    • Schedule and track project milestones and targets
    • Community outreach
  •  New Business
    • Research and identify new opportunities and markets
    • Analyze potential financial investments and underwriting
    • Outreach to potential partners and property owners
    • Explore new business models (asset management, acquisitions, etc.)
  •  Asset & Property Management
    • Oversee finances and operation of mixed use portfolio
    • Manage commercial property turnover and leasing
  •  Operations
    • Day to day administrative support of a boutique office
    • Assist with budgeting, reporting, and investor relations

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; relevant project management, hospitality, real estate finance, or architecture discipline preferred
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years real estate experience or advanced degree
  • Proficiency in Excel (Real Estate financial modeling a plus)
  • We are open to candidates with design, urban planning, legal, financing, construction, or other backgrounds complementary to the diverse field of Real Estate Development

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

 

  • Experience in managing complex real estate development projects from inception to delivery, ideally within the City of Boston
  • Ability to collaborate with architects, attorneys, brokers, owners, lenders, engineers, investors, and partners
  • Familiarity with transactions and deals within the market
  • Ability to professionally represent Hudson in interactions with community residents, elected officials, industry peers, and partners/investors
  • Handle the current pipeline of work related to hotel development while being cognizant of new opportunities
  • High degree of professionalism; excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrate a track record of completing tasks from start to finish
  • Proven management, organizational, planning, and leadership skills
  • Energetic and motivated with ability to work independently or collaboratively
  • Flexibility and willingness to work on a range of tasks; ability to perform duties with attention to detail and meet deadlines
